Tour de Cashiers
For all you cycling
enthusiasts that watch for the thrilling Tour de Cashiers, you’ll want to know
that this year’s tour will commence at the Village Green Commons on Frank Allen
Road on May 3rd, 2014 at 9 in the morning.
Like they have all
these years, the organizers are offering the Full Century re-route of a 100
miles and the Metric route that is a 50 mile ride. Both of these routes offer
the challenge that experienced cyclists love to take on such as hard climbs and
swift descents. Amateurs can try their hand at the Quarter Century route that
covers 25 miles over the Blue Ridge. And, for your information, the organizers
have eliminated the difficult Charley Creek ascents.
The beginning of May
is a great time to cycle along the routes. The mornings are refreshing cool and
the afternoons are pleasantly warm. Hundreds of wild flowers bloom everywhere
making the routes totally picturesque and a delight to experience.
The Tour de Cashiers
was initiated for the first time by Clark Moore more than 20 years ago from the
Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce. The first ride had a small group of die-hard
cycling fans that took a route that went on for 11 miles over mountainous
paths. Since then it has grown to the point where it now has more than 300
participants and three routes.
In reflection of the
beauteous locales of the tour, ShiftCycleWear has a eye-catching event jersey
for you. It has some smart features like invisible zippers, three rear pockets,
non-slip silicon hems at the waist and ultra-comfortable compression sleeve
openings. You will love the Super soft active micro-poly material and it
offers UV protection, too.
